A representative of PIHMS, Peter Petrichev, visited Kokand University
The conference was organized in collaboration with the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, and the Fergana Region, in line with the tasks outlined in the Presidential Decree PQ-338, dated July 29, 2022, on "Accelerating Tourism Cooperation with Turkic States."
Guests attending the conference were first treated to a theatrical performance dedicated to Ahmad Al-Farghani's works and given a tour of the museum and lecture halls in the Tourism Complex.
The conference was officially opened by Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation Otabek Mukhtarovich Makhamov, Vice President of the Academy of Sciences Bahrom Abduhalimovich Abduhalimov, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs and Innovations of Kokand University Zebo Bakirovna Qobilova, Deputy Governor of Fergana Region for Tourism, Sports, Culture, and Communications Khurshidjon Rustamovich Akhmedov, and Kokand City Mayor Marufjon Azamovich Usmonov.
Speakers highlighted the significance of Ahmad Al-Farghani's works in the modern era, the global importance of his scientific and cultural heritage, and the need to emphasize the role of great scholars in developing the tourism sector.
The conference featured presentations by academics from Uzbekistan's Academy of Sciences, historians from higher education institutions, foreign scholars from the Arab Republic of Egypt, and industry experts. Topics included "Geographical Knowledge in Al-Farghani's Scientific Heritage," "Farghani and the Nilometer as Diacritical Elements of the Nile," "The Impact of Farghani’s Scientific Legacy on Global Civilization," and "Ahmad Farghani’s Scientific and Cultural Heritage in World History."
The event concluded with discussions on the issues raised, along with proposals and suggestions for addressing them.
