Training Seminar for Vice-Rectors of Higher Educational Institutions Held at Kokand University
Based on Order No. 306 of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, a training seminar titled "Priority Tasks for Youth Issues and Cultural and Educational Work in Higher Educational Institutions" was organized by the Ministry in collaboration with the Center for Increasing the Social Activity of Students and Pupils. The seminar took place at Kokand University from August 23 to 25.
The guests of the seminar were greeted with traditional fanfare to the sounds of karnay-surnay (traditional Uzbek wind instruments) and invited to a plenary session held in the university’s modern and historical campus buildings. The opening session was inaugurated with speeches by the Director of Kokand University, G'ofurjon Zakhidov; the Head of Department of the Presidential Administration, Abdukhalil Mavrulov; the Head of the Republican Center of Spirituality and Enlightenment, Otabek Hasanov; the Mayor of Kokand City, Maruf Usmonov; and the Head of Department at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, Nodir Kasimov. The speakers emphasized the importance of addressing youth issues today and highlighted that this training seminar lays a foundation for effectively addressing youth challenges and organizing cultural and educational initiatives in universities.
Nearly 200 representatives, including vice-rectors from both public, private, and foreign higher education institutions and partner organizations across Uzbekistan, participated in the seminar.
In the plenary session, speakers reiterated the importance of youth issues today, stressing that this seminar provides a platform for positively addressing youth challenges and enhancing cultural and educational efforts within universities. Additionally, the seminar program featured an interactive “Zakovat” intellectual game competition among the vice-rectors.
The competition, marked by high energy and excitement, was led by Abdurasul Abdullayev, the chairman of the Zakovat Intellectual Club, who personally read the questions at Kokand University. Participants formed teams of six and engaged in a 24-question tournament, resulting in the following top placements with awards:
1st Place – “Avesto” team (Khorezm); 2nd Place – “Bukhari” team (Bukhara); 3rd Place – “18 Square” team (Karakalpakstan).
At the end of the seminar, participants shared their feedback and suggestions, expressing gratitude to the Director of Kokand University, G'ofurjon Zakhidov, and all organizers and volunteer students for the successful two-day event. Certificates were awarded to all seminar participants.
